Created as the central jewelry piece of this La Catrina set, this handcrafted choker was designed to sit almost like an ornamental collar around the neck. Antique-gold filigree, floral elements and intense ruby-red stones form a richly detailed composition, while the delicate cross pendant draws the design downward toward the décolletage. It is elaborate and unmistakably dramatic, yet its proportions allow the details to frame the neck rather than overwhelm it.
The combination of antique gold and deep red gives the necklace its distinctive character. The warm metallic finish feels almost aged and precious, while the red stones bring light and intensity into every movement. Worn alone, the choker can become the focal point of an otherwise minimal look. Combined with the matching earrings, it creates a beautifully coordinated jewelry set; paired with the floral skull crown, the ornamentation continues upward around the face and into an extraordinary composition of red, burgundy and pink flowers.
At the center of the complete design rises the ornate golden skull, surrounded by flowers and jeweled details. Below it, the earrings and choker repeat the same antique-gold language on a smaller scale. This relationship between the pieces was intentional: rather than creating three accessories that simply match in color, we wanted them to feel as though they belong to one visual world — a transformation that begins above the head and continues around the face and neck.
That world is inspired by La Catrina and Día de los Muertos, and by the extraordinary way beauty, remembrance and mortality can exist beside one another. Flowers can surround the image of a skull; brilliant color can accompany remembrance; love and memory can remain present even in the acknowledgement that life is temporary. This contrast has fascinated us for years because it does not diminish life — it makes its beauty feel even more precious.
Every choker is individually handcrafted in our Czech atelier. Its numerous ornamental components, floral details and stones are carefully selected, positioned and assembled by hand, making subtle variations a natural part of each piece. This is jewelry created not simply to complete an outfit, but to change its entire presence — a piece for the moment when you want ornament itself to become part of your transformation.
Our La Catrina collection is our own artistic interpretation inspired by the extraordinary visual language surrounding La Catrina and Día de los Muertos, approached with admiration and respect for their Mexican cultural origins. These pieces are not reproductions of traditional Mexican artifacts. They are our handcrafted expression of something we find deeply meaningful: that remembrance can be surrounded by flowers, color and beauty — and that celebrating those we love is also a celebration of life itself.
